PRP method (platelet-rich plasma)

The PRP method (platelet-rich plasma) has been used in human medicine in recent years for faster healing of skin lesions, tendon disorders, torn cruciate ligaments / meniscus, chondropathy, arthrosis, eye problems and much more.

This method is based on the therapeutic properties of specific blood cells (platelets) of the patient’s own blood, which are obtained by simple blood sampling and undergo a specific strengthening process before being injected into the same patient again. It is a completely atraumatic and safe method for treating many serious diseases without the use of drugs with their side effects.

This method is now also used in veterinary medicine for dogs, cats and horses, where several published studies from research centers have established the beneficial effects of patients’ blood cells in the recovery and/or prevention of pathological and surgical diseases.

In our clinic we have applied the PRP method in several cases with very encouraging results. The procedure is simple and can usually be performed under light sedation without the need for general anesthesia. A small amount of blood is taken from the patient, and after centrifugation the platelets are removed. A platelet booster is then administered, and finally the platelets are reintroduced into the patient by injection at the site of the lesion. Each case requires a different approach, but usually the results are visible after the first two administrations at intervals of several weeks.
