Our Clinic

Η κλινική

With a lot of love, patience and effort our Small Animal Clinic was established in January 2009, making come true a childhood’s dream of Lena’s and mine. What we wanted was a functional surgery that would be beautiful and comfortable at the same time, so we could cater to the needs of our animals but also of their owners who, unfortunately, have to spend quite some time in the waiting area while their animal is being examined or treated. Based on our experience working in clinics in Greece as well as abroad, we believe that with the surgery we have created we are meeting the needs of our pets completely.

Our goal is to provide quality medical services of all kinds using the most modern methods - as required by modern veterinary medicine – and to get away from the old (and unfortunately still used) method of :”Let’s try some cortisone and antibiotics and see what happens”.

We have thus invested in modern devices that allow for correct diagnosis and treatment, such as a haemanalysis device, a biochemistry analyzer, X-ray unit, anesthesia apparatus, modern cages for inpatient treatment and many more.

We are happy to welcome you to our practice to help you not only with big problems you might have but also to advise you with everyday issues concerning the health of your pet or the very important preventive medicine which will help you avoid many a problem. By this we mean e.g. vaccination schedules, correct anti-parasitic treatment, feeding plans as well as advice for many other important things, starting from the first steps of your baby pet to its old age.

Our experience

Already during my study years I also worked in a private practice in Thessaloniki and was able to attend many commonplace as well as complicated pathological and surgical cases there. I took part in surgical procedures done by the professor of the University Hospital many times, and was thus able to gather enough experience to carry out such procedures on my own.

I then opted for advanced training in the surgical / obstetrics department at the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki where I had the opportunity to get training in the intensive care, anesthesiology and ophthalmology departments. I took part in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery on a daily basis. The cases had been referred to us from veterinary practices from all over Greece. I graduated with the mark “Very Good”.

At the Vienna University Clinic in Austria I took part in a high level seminar (wet lab) where I bettered myself in difficult techniques for procedures in the abdomen as well as in plastic surgery. Because my experience in the Vienna clinic was such a positive one I decided to apply for a re-education in surgery and orthopedics and got accepted. At the clinic I worked in the surgical and orthopedic ward and was assigned special tasks in the orthopedic field. I also participated in the development of a case study of bone cancer in cats after osteosynthesis with the use of metal plates.

My love for my special home country brought me back to Kalamata where Lena and I decided to open our own veterinary practice the standard of which we wanted to be as close as possible to European standard.

Lena deals mainly with veterinary acupuncture in cases of neurological and pathological disorders for faster rehabilitation after surgery. After two years of training she received the European Veterinary Acupuncturist Certificate and master's degree with the mark "Excellent". She then focused on electro-acupuncture. In addition to the daily chores at the clinic she also does soft tissue surgery, dental treatments and pathological cases, always collaborating with the most trusted laboratories.
